Interesting clue Tim, thanks.

While ports indicated that gobject-introspection was up to date, I went back
and tried to rebuild it, which failed. It was last rebuilt at the end of last
December.

I rebuilt all of it's dependencies and then gobject-introspection rebuilt
without error.

I'm still working my way through hundreds of subsequent builds for gnome2.
