Agreed.  I think that we are on the same page.  However, the comment is a
little vague (below from gst_memory.c).  ;-)  I could see why the person(s) who
did the port of v4l2src may have thought it safe.

 * New memory can be created with gst_memory_new_wrapped() that wraps the
memory
 * allocated elsewhere.
