Sounds like a really good proposal ;) What do others say ?

as for 2), would you like all of the plugins :
a) in a flat hierarchy, one dir per underlying library
b) in a flat hierachy, each plugin it's own directory
c) in a two-level hierarchy, with the first level being the rudimentary
division I proposed (audio/video/other-ext/int, 6 dirs) and the second
level one dir per underlying library ?

Maybe this boils down all of the current proposals rather nicely ...
