It seems to me that there should be a list of the properties we're going
to use, and precise definitions of their meanings, somewhere: eg

name     Relevant mimetypes    Definition

depth    audio/raw             The number of bits per sample of audio data.
rate     audio/raw             The number of samples per second in each
                               channel.
channels audio/raw             The number of channels of audio data.


Is there such a list already?
How should such a list be maintained?
