Ok, here's my logo idea.  I thought the Oregon Newt would be a good
mascot.   And here is a mascotized logo:

i wasn't looking at pictures while drawing... so i'm not even sure if
this is a newt! ;)

maybe need a tounge sticking out and maybe use lines to seperate fingers
on a solid hand rather than big finger gaps...  oh, and a real artist to
fix it up ;)

done in svg with sodipodi.  this is my first svg image ;)
'sketch' couldn't import the svg... not sure why.

anway... idea for someone more artistic to improve if anyone likes it.
