I actually considered a few options for this.

a) write gconfvideosink and gconfaudiosink, which would check the keys and 
instantiate a gconf pipeline

b) write auto-detecting tools to determine the best sinks

a do-all plug-in in itself is probably not a good idea, but one that makes 
use of the existing stuff and instantiates itself probably is.
