[gst-devel] A problematic automake/autoheader problem, (fwd)

Hey,

so I've been scratching my head all day trying to figure this out and I
could use some help. The symptom was xvideosink not working with Xv
stuff. It seemed to come down to HAVE_XVIDEO not being defined at all,
and that was also the cause of some unused variables trouble I used to
have a few weeks ago.

Now, normally, autoheader creates config.h.in with templates for all of
the plugin's HAVE_* defines, which then gets translated to config.h where
they are either defined or not depending on whether configure decides to
use it or not.

Ok, so on my current gstreamer cvs builds, config.h.in doesn't contain ANY
HAVE_* symbol for any plug-in anymore. That's pretty troublesome.
I went back to the 0.3.4 release branch, which does generate all of these
HAVE_* symbols in config.h.in

I tried toying around with various fixes, but try as I might I cannot get
the plugins HAVE_* symbols back in config.h.in.

My current set-up is RH73 with automake 1.5 and autoconf 2.52.

I know Wim, who is on debian, doesn't have this problem.

I wanted to know if some of you might want to check their most recent
config.h file and check if they have HAVE_XVIDEO and other symbols in it
or not, so I can try to resolve this...

Thanks,
Thomas
