I could kick gst-rec out of my sight for a few weeks and work on this.
Spider is annoying and undocumented and will stay that way until someone
changes it. Someone needs to do it. gst-rec isn't a serious option for
gnome-2.2 anyway, so I can move it long-term for a while.
