One thing I forgot to add was that I would also like to make the build
depend on quilt.  it's a nice simple tool to handle patchsets and is a
lot better at figuring out when to patch stuff than my limited makefile
hacking is.  Wanted to check if nobody objects to that.  I've been told
quilt is in debian, and I've built rpms for it, and for the source
lovers it is dead easy to install.
