Hi everyone,
some quick notes.
a) if you're running from head CVS, make sure you run make clean in both
gstreamer and gst-plugins first. Libtool versioning has been updated,
ABI padding reset, and so your plugins will probably fail with messages
like
(process:21371): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: specified class size for type
`GstAggregator' is smaller than the parent type's `GstElement' class
size
Avoid the pain, run make clean first, then update both and run
autoregen.sh and rebuild.
b) if you package GStreamer for a project, please get in touch with me.
We've added nonversioned frontend binaries for the versioned backend
binaries. The idea is pretty simple:
* packages can be made to be parallel installable between different
major/minor versions for all files EXCEPT these non-versioned binaries
* one common package can be made containing these non-versioned
binaries, and they work for all major/minor versions
It would be nice if we can sort of coordinate so GStreamer gets packaged
the way it was intended.
c) I'm planning on doing a 0.6.5 service release with these
non-versioned binaries and some library updates soon, anyone have
comments on that ?
d) the new xml/xslt-based website is now live. I redirected
gstreamer.net to it, and I'll try and follow up on the other matters.
I'll be adding a People section soon and hope to add all of you there :)
