>>What prompted you to do this testing ?
I've been happily using linux for several years now but haven't felt
like I've given as much back to the community as I'd like too, so for
some time now I've been watching for a project that both interests me
and that felt I could contribute too. When I saw Ronalds call for
testing on the developers mailing list a little while ago I thought -
"Hey that's definitely something I can do!" and to be quite frank most
of the developers working on gstreamer just seem to be generally very
nice and helpful people, which is the kind of folks I like to hang out
with. So gstreamer seems like a good place for me...
Also, I think it's important to have free as in "libre" software
available which will allow people to do some basic video recording,
editing and playing and this seems to be the best media project going
which is directly pursuing that IMHO.
>>install CVS version of gst-plugins,
I actually spent most of the weekend downloading additional samples from
the MPlayer site. I have more than two CD's full of samples now...
>>our FAQ contains ...explaining how to run a CVS version without
messing up your installed one.
I assume you mean:
http://gstreamer.freedesktop.org/data/doc/gstreamer/head/faq/html/chapter-developing.html#developing-uninstalled-gstreamer
I'm hoping that I'll have time on Wed or Thursday of this week do the
entire cvs respository checkout and to try running a cvs version of gst.
Thanks for the tip.
