I think the element makes a lot of sense. So whatever else is discussed
it should find its way somewhere in our set of plugins.
There are two other discussions that are worthwhile.
One is - does it make sense to integrate it with filesink ?
The other is - how do we deal with the "overload" of plugins in
gst-plugins.
While it is true some people have commented on the latter being a
problem, it is also true that others have commented on that long before
as well. I don't think it's correct to say that a plugin like this
shouldn't go in and should be kept app-specific just because there are
people who think that we have too many already.
The discussion on what plugins should be in our gst-plugins tarball
should be done for all plugins. Not putting one in because we're all
fed up with how long it takes to autogen.sh or that we have a bunch of
ill-maintained plugins is the wrong way to do it.
