[gst-devel] Game Format Test Results

Just to get a general feel for what game media formats may be supported with gstreamer last night I tried playing one of each type of game format files from the mplayer samples dir with the following results. Please note the methodology used for testing, First I tried all the files with mplayer, then of the ones which succeeded I also tried gst-player. If mplayer couldn't play it I just assumed gst-player would fail as well...

I'll be out of town the rest of this weekend but I thought I'd post this in case anyone is interested or has seen different performance... rpm versions used in the testing are listed at the bottom.

Results summary:
43 game format media files tried with mplayer with 7 playing successfully.
7 media files attempted with gst-player with 2 (both audio only) playing successfully.

I also filed this bug since id software's roq format played for me (but slowly) when I tried it two weeks ago with slightly earlier versions of rpm's.
