[gst-devel] media-info, and old streaminfo tags

Hi everyone,

I want to use the tag system to report some of the information that used
to be reported using streaminfo in 0.6  This includes stuff like
layer/mode/emphasis info for mp3.  Right now it is not getting reported.

I know Benjamin will object to this.  His opinion is that we are free
not to support features anymore that we offered in 0.6 
My opinion is that we should consider such regression bugs and try to
fix them.

Is there anyone besides Benjamin who objects to me adding these tags and
reinstating this functionality ?

For the record, we've come at the end of our release cycle, and it is my
opinion we are allowed to do non-ideal stuff to fix the regressions we
have.  A similar one I'll be going for is to add a "release-device"
property on the sinks so our applications (like rhythmbox/jamboree for
example) do not use the silly hack that sets audiosinks to NULL, causing
PAUSE/PLAY not to work.

Opinions welcome.
