[gst-devel] hardware sources/sinks and GST_RANK

hi ML users,

my basic question would be :

basically, should src & sink have a rank other than GST_RANK_NONE ?

and if yes, what are the rules ?

native sound system is PRIMARY ?
esd and other layers/wrappers are SECONDARY ?

what to do in the case of linux, which can have both oss, alsa (esd,
jack, ...)


autochoosing/autoconfiguring the audiosink would solve a lot of user
"bug" reports (say alsasink => assert if a wrong/no dev is specified)
