Yes digging a bit deeper (and with some help from #gstreamer, strace 
etc..) i found that the server is serving the stream only
when he recognizes the "User-Agent" header.  You can set it with some 
environment variable, but even then gstreamer does not
recognize the stream.

I will file a bug.
