Hi Thomas. I built popt, glib, libxml, python, etc all from the ports
collection on FreeBSD, not from direct source.

I meant they wanted to try to compile install gstreamer through their
scripts. There is a list of dependencies and libraries in their
documentation, and gstreamer isn't on there (as well as a few other
things I think that install 'behind the scenes'). I guess that's to try
to let them build it with their install package and with any custom
settings they set to make it work with their stuff.
That's fine with me, however if gstreamer doesn't compile on it's own
from source, then I can't expect theirs to work either (they both have
the same problem on two different machines with all the dependencies
installed through ports).
