One use I can think of is display the lyrics from the MIDI file (the
same ways DVD subtitles can be displayed) as the song is played and you
have a karaoke machine. And if you could feed both the lyrics and the
MIDI channel for the voice to a speech synthesis module it could sing
the lyrics. Perhaps it wouldn't work to the degree of being useful, but
it would be fun!
