Thanks but like I mentioned the signal is delivered fine when the caps 
are not set (meaning the connection is made - later in the example 
though. I created a very small self-contained app and put it here 
http://ktown.kde.org/~zrusin/gstrgb.c that shows basically step by step 
what I do).
