[gst-devel] Licence question

Hi folks,

OK, so this isn't a great opening question for my first on this list,
but I hope you'll all bear with me.

I've read the GPL and LPGL many times, and also the gstreamer FAQ
document chapter-legal.html.

I just need to be 100% sure that a proprietary media playing
application (that actually does much more) can be linked with gstreamer
and can then use proprietary plugins (written by us)

My reading is that as there are no GPL parts involved, that this should
be just fine and we can distribute the whole thing in a single package.

Obviously, we'd prefer to release at least the plugins as LGPL, but it
could take some effort to sort this out, and TBH they won't be a whole
load of use to the community in general. But we are doing ongoing work
in gstreamer and will be splitting this down to separate patches over
the next few weeks.

Ian
