[gst-devel] Initial experience with 0.10.1

Hello everyone,

I was a subscriber to this list quite some time ago.  Recently, I decided
to try out the new 0.10 series of gstreamer.

I was able to get gst-plugins-base, -good, -bad and -ugly to compile on
my Linux iBook.  The ffmpeg package had a small problem, which I
documented at http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=325724.

Overall, I the system worked well and I am able to play many media files
for which there are plugins.  As mentioned in the release documentation,
there are many plugins that have not yet been ported from the 0.8 series.
Is there a formal effort to port these over?  I am especially interested
in the dvdnav and dvdread plugins.

Thanks to the 0.9/0.10 team for all of your hard work.  This release
looks like it will be a pleasure to help test.
