Hi,
$gst-inspect-0.10 lame
shows default, current value of the compression ratio property as zero.
To understand the compression ratio property I tried to encode audio
$gst-launch-0.10 alsasrc ! lame ! filesink location=test.mp3
and have observed that after 30sec the filesize is 0.47MB.
With only raw audio after 30 sec it is 10MB
$gst-launch-0.10 alsasrc ! filesink location=test.raw
The first question is even though gst-inspect has shown compression ratio as
zero,
still, does lame compress the file ?
Second question:-
When playingback the mp3 file, mplayer shows:-
========================================================
Opening audio decoder: [mp3lib] MPEG layer-2, layer-3
AUDIO: 44100 Hz, 2 ch, s16le, 128.0 kbit/9.07% (ratio: 16000->176400)
Selected audio codec: [mp3] afm: mp3lib (mp3lib MPEG layer-2, layer-3)
========================================================
what does 128.0kbit/9.07% mean ?
Thanks,
Pavan.
