[gst-devel] Meta Data and Tags

I have been exploring possibilities of a media player using GStreamer as a
backend and was wondering, how GStreamer and, or projects using gstreamer
deal with Metadata.   Currently I know that I can get tag list from a
Playing Pipeline.   Is there another less overhead way to grab meta data
from all the files?  What would be the method of least overhead?
