Hello,
I compiled GStreamer and all its dependencies for an embedded PPC(350Mhz).
It's running a 2.6 kernel and glibc with NPTL support. I used the toolchain
from ELDK
When I start a GStreamer as a test I get this error:
># gst-launch fakesrc ! fakesink
>Setting pipeline to PAUSED ...
>Pipeline is PREROLLING ...
>
>GThread-ERROR **: file gthread-posix.c: line 356 (): error 'Cannot allocate
memory' during 'pthread_create'
>aborting...
>Aborted
I have already tried other setups with this results for a udpsrc ! fakesink:
On a PPC 350 Mhz
2.4 + uClibc : 40-75%
2.6 + uClibc : 90-95%
2.6 + glibc without NPTL : 40-45%
2.6 + glibc with NPTL : ???
On a laptop 600Mhz x86
2.6 + glibc with NPTL : 3-4%
Does somebody know why the cpu usage of GStreamer is soo high on the PPC?
And why does it not start with NPTL?
Thanks in advance,
Thijs
