[gst-devel] Summer of code project

Hello!

I'm a developer of the GNU Classpath project and for the current edition
of the Summer of Code I'm submitting a project that will (hopefully)
create hooks between our implementation of javax.sound (the Sound API)
and GStreamer. The benefits are obvious: provide a Gnome/Gstreamer
Desktop sound integration for Java.

I'll submit this project as part of the GCC/GCJ organization, and, if no
one object, to the Gnome/GStreamer and Fedora organizations too.

On the GStreamer web site I've read that someone of you would like to
mentor (or co-mentor) the project, and this would be great because this
is a complex task and I will really need help!

The first question to answer will be if it is really possible to
implement javax.sound peer classes that directly use GStreamer as a
backend or if I can only implement some functionality with GStreamer.

A summary of the application form is here:
http://www.limasoftware.net/neugens/downloads/gsoc-2007/gsoc_2007_application_form.pdf

I'm still working on that, so expect some minor changes there (plus the
fact that this was written with Classpath in mind, and I have to redo
some).

This is going to be an exciting project, and I can't wait to start it
over.

I hope to hear ideas and suggestions from you soon!

Thanks for the time and for this great framework!
Mario Torre
