[gst-devel] A Gstreamer plugin to capture and encode data from video camera or microphone

For video you can use the video4linux plugins, (v4l2src and v4lsrc), which
can capture images from webcams (for instance).
like:

gst-launch v4l2src device=/dev/video0 !  xvimagesink
