[gst-devel] gst-plugins can't find GStreamer

There's a problem with (only) setting GST_PLUGIN_PATH, though: what if I
want to run an application that uses GStreamer from an icon, rather than
from the shell? For example, if I run Pidgin from an icon, sounds don't
work, but running it from a terminal where GST_PLUGIN_PATH is set is fine.
What can I do about this?
