[gst-devel] a basic doubt

Hi All
there are few basic things on which i am confused
if posible somebody please reply

while encoding
1: for a raw data comin from a camera(or any source) .. if its
converted to frames(encoding in any format) .. then the timestamp and
time duration is also encoded with it or not ??
and if yes then who calculates the timestamp for it on wat basis ??

if no .. then
how is the timestamp and duration set for any media file for playback
.. because any renderer needs the time information for which the frame
received has to be played ..


Can anyone possibly give me link any place where these doubt can be
resolved ?? (basically multiledia related basic doubts .. )
