At the source code level, when you are compiling gst-plugins-good, it
is *possible* to build the software without PulseAudio support. AFAIK
PulseAudio is enabled by default if the correct dependency libraries
are installed on the system.
At the "package" (distribution) level, a distro can ship whatever they
want: they can include it or not include it. Fedora definitely
includes it: the transition to using PulseAudio for everything by
default started around Fedora 8, in 2007. Fedora 14 is a whopping six
releases later, so it definitely has PA enabled by default and it
ships the gstreamer plugin as appropriate.
This question is obviously related to your other query regarding your
sound troubles on the XO-1; please don't make so many threads about
the same problem.
