If you encounter deadlock, please file a bug and submit to
bugs.gnome.org. Make sure it's not the same as:

https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=715175

About the parameter not working, I think it is due to your output format
not having alpha component. Try to set a format after the mixer that is
RGBA or AYUV, or even better, let the mixer choose one for you.
