streaming video metadata

Thank you for the answer. Actually I already put the getter and the setter in
the same plugin. Unfortunately I can not find a way to pass custom metadata
through allo elements in the pipeline. 
A work around could be create a source element which put data in the buffer
and then mux video and data together and finally send muxed stream via udp.
Is this a good solution? If yes, could you help me?
