Frustration w/ Fedora 20, Totem, nVidia

Things were working fine in Fedora 18 but that went end of life.
With Fedora 20, initially totem worked including fluendo plugins, audio
and video. However gnome-shell kept crashing, and browser (gstreamer
backend - midori) would crash on h.264 video.
Tired of several gnome-shell crashes a day, I installed the nvidia
drivers per http://rpmfusion.org/Howto/nVidia
browser stopped crashed and played videos fine but totem stopped
working, no useful error message - not even starting it from CLI - just
spin and crash. But other gstreamer applications worked and video worked
just fine in browser.
I just un-installed the nvidia drivers to see if gnome is more stable
now w/ the Nouveau drivers. Totem works again, but no audio. Audio works
in other GStreamer apps, just not totem.
Tried with mp3 and with opus as well as with videos.
I suspect I am going to have to re-install the nvidia drivers, every
time I go without to see if Nouveau work they don't. Totem worked with
nvidia drivers in F18, it is since F20 that I it doesn't.
A) Anyone know how I can get useful information out of totem to figure
out why it is failing with the nvidia drivers? (304xx drivers)
B) A bit off-topic - Anyone know of a video card with two DVI output
that actually works well with open source drivers? I'm tired of having
either a buggy desktop or a tainted kernel where distros ignore my
issues because I have to use closed-source drivers.
Thank you
