gstreamer-1.0 and linux version

Is there a requirement on the minimum version of linux kernel needed to support gstreamer-1.0?
I currently have linux kernel 3.2 with gstreamer-0.10 and I want to upgrade to gstreamer-1.0. DO I need to upgrade my linux version first to a certain version?
