Newbie questions: osxaudiosink, USB DAC and integer mode

Thanks for your reply.
One thing I've just realised is...
I originally installed gstreamer and gst-plugins-good from homebrew and the
latest version from there is actually 1.4.5 and 0.10.31 respectively!
I probably should upgrade to a newer version :-)
Are my questions still relevant for the latest version? The most recent
source code for osxaudiosink mentions x-raw rather than x-raw-float.
