Unable to play HLS stream using gstreamer 1.0 and 0.10

I am trying to play an HLS stream using gstreamer. When I try to play with
gstreamer 0.10, I get the following but no video 
Setting pipeline to PAUSED ...
Pipeline is PREROLLING ...
Pipeline is PREROLLED ...
Setting pipeline to PLAYING ...

and while using gstreamer 1.0 get:

I have installed: gstreamer-plugins-ugly/bad/base

Please let me know how I can play HLS stream using gstreamer1.0 and
gstreamer0.10 and also if I am missing any plugins.
