Source plugin with two pads

Based on gstplugin.c code, I added a second source pad to a new
gstplugin-2.c
After proper installation, the simple pipeline below fails:

gst-launch-1.0 -m -v plugin-2 ! fakesink . ! fakesink .
WARNING: erroneous pipeline: syntax error

whereas
gst-launch-1.0 -m -v plugin-2 ! fakesink
does not show the problem.

Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?
