Send non caps information in caps negotiation

Hi,

Would it be possible/allowed to send non-caps information, e.g. a variable,
from one element to another in a cap negotiation?

I would like to pass a setting between two elements and the setting is not
part of the regular caps.

Does anyone have an example doing anything like that?
