Fails to umount

Could this in fact be something quite different? I've had several
incidents of fam/gam/gamin opening something on a removable volume, then
never closing it again, with the result that the volume won't unmount.
Doing fuser or lsof on the offending volume usually showed what was
happening.

In most cases killing the offending daemon worked. In some cases it
respawned instantly.
