error: libhal_ctx_init_direct: (null): (null)

Hi all,

I have been trying to update dbus and hal so that I can update gnome in 
gentoo.  I have installed both a recent CVS of dbus and hal.  Both are 
working well expect that when I run fstab-sync such as below i get this 
error.

 fstab-sync -a /org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/storage_model_Flash_Disk
 error: libhal_ctx_init_direct: (null): (null)

Thus nothing gets added by /etc/fstab by hal, every thing else is set-up 
as it should be, including links to fstab-sync in device.d/
