Looks like the drive is missdetected also by the kernel. I attached a patch to 
add the device to the list of broken CD/DVD burner which fix the capability 
for storage.cdrom.cdr. 

Could you try the patch with HAL 0.5.5.1 (or use the also attached fdi-file) 
and ceck if now is all correct?
