Device not ready - messages with YAMAHA CDRW8424S

Sounds like the drive may have broken firmware.  Did you try upgrading 
it?  I'm not sure exactly which command hal is sending the drive to 
detect if there is media loaded, but seeing as how none of the other 
drives complain like that, my guess is this one is not returning the 
correct reply for "no media".
