HAL 0.5.7 -> 0.5.8 API changes (and subtle breakage heh)

Now that you say it, it's obvious that it's a bitmask as it's about
capabilities, which each drive can have in various combined ways; I've
missed it out, but it wouldn't be bad to add at least a comment about this
like

/* Drive capabilities bitmask */
