Well the dbus_bus_get() failure is something you should focus on. HAL 
initializes okay, but fails to register with D-Bus. What options have 
you used to configure HAL and are they aligned with the options D-Bus 
was configured? E.g. HAL installs hal.conf in ${prefix}/etc/dbus-1, 
which might not be where D-Bus is looking. Also ensure that you create 
user ${HAL_USER} and group ${HAL_GROUP} as per the configure.
