Hrm... I went with s3_bios + vbemode_restore, because there's a comment in the 
file that says:

"T61, intel card 32bit works with S3_MODE, but 64bit needs VBE_MODE"

I'm running a 64-bit install, so I assumed that was the way to go. I can go 
back and double-check a few things though...
