Dear listmembers,
my son's computer contains a lg DVD drive:

30: SCSI 00.0: 10602 CD-ROM (DVD)
  [Created at block.247]
  UDI: /org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/storage_model_DVD_RAM_GH22LS30
  Unique ID: KD9E.c6GnszNG4b3
  Parent ID: CvwD.hW4zKajMUN8
  SysFS ID: /class/block/sr0
  SysFS BusID: 0:0:0:0
  SysFS Device Link:
/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:05.0/host0/target0:0:0/0:0:0:0
  Hardware Class: cdrom
  Model: "HL-DT-ST DVD-RAM GH22LS30"
  Vendor: "HL-DT-ST"
  Device: "DVD-RAM GH22LS30"
  Revision: "1.00"
  Driver: "sata_nv", "sr"
  Driver Modules: "sata_nv"
  Device File: /dev/sr0 (/dev/sg0)
  Device Files: /dev/sr0, /dev/scd0, /dev/disk/by-path/pci-0000:00:05.0-
scsi-0:
Device Number: block 11:0 (char 21:0)
  Features: CD-R, CD-RW, DVD, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW, DVD+DL, DVDRAM
  Config Status: cfg=new, avail=yes, need=no, active=unknown
  Attached to: #7 (IDE interface)
  Drive Speed: 48

Now, we had had used opensuse 11.0 and did not face any issues with DVD-
drives. Since I updated to openSUSE 11.1 I permanently get messages like:

/* out of /var/log/messages */
mount: blockorientiertes Gerät /dev/sr0 ist schreibgeschützt, wird eingehängt
im Nur-Lese-Modus
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sr0,
missing codepage or helper program, or other error
Manchmal liefert das Syslog wertvolle Informationen – versuchen
Sie dmesg | tail oder so

There is a link

http://forums.opensuse.org/hardware/414912-dvd-automounting-udf-
problems-2.html

describing this issue and a way how to circumvent it - but this is not at all
satisfying. Is there any relation to hal? If not, sorry for the noise, but the
weblink above points me towards this direction.

Do you think it would be worth opening a bug-report on Novell bugzilla?

Many thanks for your efforts,
take care

Dieter Jurzitza
