yup.  it seems the systems i checked are indeed doing it wrong --
ubuntu intrepid (with 1.5.2) and the released XO laptop OS (with
1.5.0 RC6).  but i'm glad to hear the window was small, because
the behavior sure seemed odd.

(and i'll take your word for the "vast majority" part, though i
can't help wondering if half a million XO laptops doesn't shift
the balance somehow.  ;-)
