Quick note to point out that there is a smart open font for
Mongolian available on:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/manchufont/
http://packages.debian.org/en/sid/ttf-manchufont

It probably provides a good foundation for further testing.

They apparently also have input method work in their svn repo.
