I'm actually also interested to know what is the current status of the bug. I
completely understand that the recent graphic chips (Haswell etc.) have much
higher priority and that there are probably not much people left who use the
old Thinkpad X30. Still, it would be very nice if this annoying bug could be
fixed.

I'm on vacations until the end of August, such that I can compile and test
patches when needed.

Am I correct that drm-intel-next is the right branch to test? Then at least for
Ubuntu the kernel builds should be in
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/drm-intel-next/
and I could apply Daniel's patches to the i915 module on top of that builds as
I did before.

Just let me know if you have some ideas to test.
