dmesg from a boot of kernel 3.10.9 with CONFIG_DRM_I915=m and
CONFIG_DRM_I915_KMS=n and /etc/modprobe.d/test.conf:options i915 modeset=1

Module i915 was loaded very late, most likely by X startup.

Consoles were black/grey/unusable after switch to X. :-(
