Ok.

Well, I installed KDE finally. It behaves the same way as XFCE. 

And then I closed the KDE session and started XFCE. XFCE turned off the laptop
screen, keeping the external screen on as it should be. And again, the same
behaviour after trying to activate the laptop screen.
